A Complete Tutorial On Writing A 5-Paragraph Argumentative Essay

It is relatively simple and straightforward to write a five paragraph argumentative essay, but only if you know what you’re doing. In order to give you a better understanding of how to approach and complete the work, the following is a complete tutorial for what you need to know.

What to do before writing anything

The first thing that you will need to do is to think of a topic to discuss. If you have been told to write about a specific topic, then you will need to simply narrow down a relevant title. Alternatively, you may need to use various brainstorming methods in order to think of a topic in the first place. Ultimately, you can choose to argue about something that you agree with or, alternatively, you may wish to test your skills by arguing for a particular point of view that you do not necessarily agree with yourself.

Once you have decided what topic to write about, it can be useful to carry out some research so as to think of good quality arguments that you can write about, as well as finding any relevant facts or information to back up the points that you intend to make.

Writing the work and what structure to use

Once you are ready to start writing, you will need to understand what structure to use for your paper. Ultimately, you will need to write about different things in each of the five paragraphs, so it is important to know what details to include in each one.

The first paragraph should be used your introduction. In the introduction you should outline any important details relating to the topic that you will be discussing, as well as potentially providing more information about the point of view that you will be making an argument for in the rest of the work.

The next three paragraphs will be used for the body section of your work. Each paragraph should describe a different argument, with the first of these three paragraphs containing the strongest argument, before discussing further arguments in descending order of importance.

The final paragraph will be the conclusion, in which you will examine any points that you have brought up earlier on in the paper, without introducing any new arguments.

Once the work is written

Once you have written the final draft, you will then be ready to proofread and edit what you have written.
