Great Ideas For Writing A 3-Paragraph Essay On Macbeth By William Shakespeare

It’s incredible to think that someone that was born in sixteenth-century England could still wield such influence five hundred years later. However, the academic love affair with William Shakespeare is showing no sign of abating and studying his work is as much of a rite of passage for any college kid as eating pizza and drinking beer.

Macbeth is a brilliant choice for the 3-paragraph essay simply because of the fact that it is so complex and there is so much scope to waffle. The whole purpose of assignments of this nature is to teach you how to structure and format your work correctly. If you can do this with Macbeth, then trust me – you can do it with anything!

Need some ideas to help you get started? Look no further:

Grab a copy of the play and chill out

You are going to need to seriously unwind and be in the right frame of mind if you are going to do this correctly. I would suggest running yourself a nice hot bath, lighting some candles and then letting the tragedy of Macbeth consume you. Dive into it body and soul. Feel it, live it. This is the only way that you are going to be able crystalize your thoughts enough to narrow it all down.

Sort the structure

Your work is going to consist simply of:

  • An introduction
  • Main body
  • Conclusion

This will be as easy or as hard as you choose to make it and the sooner you wrap your head around the fact that you don’t have any scope for rambling, the easier it will be.

Write it in stages

The only thing that you should concern yourself with initially is the introduction. Anything else is beyond the scope of your remit right now. Take the time to write a watertight introduction and rework it until you have something that you would be happy to hand in. The second you start thinking beyond your present scope, the second you will be swamped with ideas and thoughts.

Narrow the topic down

Whether you choose to focus on the role of Lady Macbeth, or the witches, the most important thing is to keep the scope of your work as narrow as possible in order to be able to do justice to your essay.

Good luck!
